Every May, thousands of people of all ages gather just south of Nashville for the Iroquois Steeplechase. People arrive adorned in bright colors, floral patterns, giant hats, and patterned bow ties. Those of age sip on mimosas and wine, all the while fanning themselves in the southern heat. Attendees can bring coolers with food and beverages in, minus anything that would be in a glass container.
This year, I grabbed some girls and convinced them to come with me to see why it's one of everyone's favorite events. We set up a picnic blanket and lawn chairs and definitely were not disappointed. Despite the humidity that curled my hair more than my curling iron ever could, everyone was friendly and in high spirits, eager to admire the impeccably well groomed horses and have a blast at the first party of summer. Music played from the center of the ring in between announcements of different sponsors (the biggest sponsor being Vineyard Vines, nonetheless) while we put my friend's new selfie stick to good use. What to bring to Steeplechase: Food/Drinks Picnic Blanket and/or lawn chairs A bunch of friends to have fun with!
