Happy Thursday, friends. Today is Jackson's 22nd, which is kind of crazy because this means we've spent four (!!!) of his birthdays together. Jackson is the most incredibly kind, gentle, and supportive person. If you guys didn't know, he takes a huge portion of my blog pictures (my mom does a huge part as well, thanks Mom!!) and always has a positive attitude about it. Before I started the blog, Jackson had no idea how to work a camera and I had to position him exactly where I needed him and set the camera on the exact settings I needed. J has grown in photography so much and it's so cool to see how much he loves it now because it's one of my biggest passions!
Since we have shared four of Jackson's birthdays together, I thought I would do a post sharing four of my favorite memories together. I have about a thousand great memories with Jackson, but I think these are my favorite!
1. Going to the Tennessee Safari Park. Guys. If you're ever in the Nashville or Memphis area, this is a must. Jackson's mom lives in Jackson, Tn (hilarious, I know) and about ten minutes away from a drive-through zoo. I still think this was one of the best dates we've ever been on. You can buy food to feed all the animals, so they all come running. I've never laughed so hard in my life, and the car was absolutely full of food from the animals shoving their heads through the windows! This was definitely on my list of favorite memories!
2. Car-camping through the Blue Ridge Mountains. When I was in high school, car camping was way high up on my bucket list. Jackson had never even heard of it when we met and thought the idea was CRAZY when I told him about it, haha. But this trip was truly one of the coolest trips we've ever taken together. Being able to go on a four-day trip through the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains while spending less than $200 was incredible and definitely brought us closer together. Not to mention, it was one of the most beautiful trips we've ever taken. Being able to see Blue Ridge in the fall was breathtaking.
3. Every time we cook together. There is probably nothing that puts Jackson in a better mood than cooking together (hence why he was okay with wearing a matching mitt and apron, haha!). We have this thing where we love to try (and occasionally fail) to make something completely new and a little bit challenging, then sit down and watch an episode or two of Chopped. Last week, we made ramen for the first time, had quite a good amount of beer, and watched a little bit of Chopped and it was just the best night! It's funny how an unplanned night can turn into one of my favorite memories!
4. Going to Mexico with my family. This was Jackson's first time out of the country and my first time to Mexico, and it was so cool. We stayed in the most amazing resort, which I talked about in this blog post, and we were right on the ocean. We had the opportunity to go snorkeling, ride on a catamaran, and eat some of the most amazing food. I love this memory, because it was probably the nicest trip we've been on, and it was so cool to be able to experience it together!
