Merry Christmas Eve, guys! I hope you're all having an amazing holiday season with your friends and family! We're spending the weekend in south Louisiana this year, where I grew up. I was raised an hour south from New Orleans and it's amazing being back! We're constantly surrounded by family, which is one of my favorite parts of the season. I love living in Nashville, but life seemed to drastically change when we decided moved after Katrina in 2005. My mom, my sister, and I spent Thanksgiving by ourselves this year. While it was amazing being on our own schedule and just hanging out with each other, I felt that the holiday really missed the festive aspect of being with family.
This afternoon, my sister and I drove around town. One of the things I may have missed the most are the absolutely gorgeous oak trees everywhere you turn. Spanish moss decorates the trees year round and is absolutely dreamy (despite the fact that it kind of kills the trees, like kudzu does in Chattanooga). To add to the nostalgia that being back home offers, we're going to a Christmas Eve church service where I went to private school. The original church, sadly, burned down a few years ago and this will be their first Christmas service in the new building. Tomorrow, I hope everyone eats a bunch of festive food, drinks some egnog, listens to a bunch of Christmas music (I'm currently listening to Michael Bubble's Christmas album), and has an absolutely amazing Christmas! Much Love, Vikka
