Happy Thursday, friends! Today, I'm sharing all of my summer go-to products with you! I feel like my products definitely change when it gets warmer out, because I'm needing different things. Keep reading to see what my summer must-haves are!
If you've been keeping up with the blog, you will have already seen that I did a post about these products last week! I used to tan in a tanning bed, but said goodbye to the tanning bed life a couple years ago. I now use a number of different self-tanning products. My favorites are the Jergens Instant Sun, the Banana Boat Light/Medium color, and the Jergens Natural Glow. To learn how I use each one, visit my post from last week!
The next thing on my list is the Neutrogena Sensitive Skin sunscreen. I love using this one for my face, because my skin can get super sensitive! I recently read an article about how sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate are incredibly harmful to marine life. Hawaii has actually banned the sale of all sunscreens containing these chemicals because it has become such an issue during the busy seasons. I was so relieved when I read that the Neutrogena sunscreen uses zinc in its formula! My spray-on sunscreens, on the other hand, contained oxybenzone and octinoxate, so I'm currently on the hunt for a good all-over coral-safe sunscreen! If you know of a good one, leave it in the comments below because I want to know!!
My go-to purple hair products will always be the Shimmer Lights blonde & silver shampoo and conditioner. I struggled for YEARS with dull, brassy hair that I hated! I tried purple hair products, but nothing has worked as well as Shimmer Lights (trust me, I've tried a ton of others). I have noticed that these products can be a little damaging since they do work so efficiently, so I also use the Matrix Biolage Hydrasource Shampoo and Colorlast Conditioner.
If you feel like your hair is even a little bit color or bleach damaged, I would definitely recommend this product. Olaplex is one of the most incredible products I've used on my hair. Putting bleach in you hair strips a layer away, and Olaplex helps to bind this layer back onto the hair. The No. 3 works as a hair mask and I love to let it sit in my hair overnight (I usually pull it into a braid so it doesn't get too messy).
Guys no joke, before I got to college I used to wash my hair almost every day. It was SO damaging! I discovered the beauty of dry shampoo in college and started using the Not Your Mother's about a year ago. This dry shampoo has a better smell and I love the way it makes my hair look! Not going to lie, I probably only wash my hair 2-3 times a week now, haha!
Until a couple months ago, I thought that natural deodorant was the dumbest trend. That is, until I read an article about the fact that normal deodorant uses aluminum (gross???). Regular deodorant also blocks your pores. Wondering why your pits always have little bumps? Yep. This also means that when you maybe forget to wear deodorant one day, you're going to be sweating A LOT more.
When I switched to natural deodorant, I really wasn't wearing deodorant every day (the weather was super nice out don't judge me!!) and so it wasn't as bad as it can be for others. That buildup of aluminum that was blocking your pores suddenly begins to dissipate so you'll probably start sweating. A lot. It might stink a little bit at first too. I've noticed that I still sweat a little bit more than I used to, but my sweat smells like a bowl of fruit loops, y'all, and I'm here for it. So I would definitely recommend getting a natural deodorant like Schmidt's (I think this one has the best scent!!)
Thanks for reading, guys!
